Race Types:

There are eight different types of events that you can enter (Championships, Show Jumping, and Private races are explained in more detail immediately after this section):

  • Flat Races: A regular race that contains no jumps (good for horses with a FTB, Flat Racer perso).
  • Jump Races: A regular race that has one or more jumps. (good for FTB, Jumper perso).
  • Time Trials: Timed sprint in which the horse runs by himself. There is a “Shadow horse” that represents the horse that currently has the fastest time. Be within 110% of the current best time to earn XP. Beat the current Time Trial time and earn double XP: (Good for Extreme FTB jumpers who have 3 talents in SS and AC).
  • Championships (Race): Horses compete in tournament style races. The 1st-4th places in the 1st round, 2nd round and Semi-finals get to the Final Round. (Horses with an extreme BR personality and 3 BR Talent Points do the best here).
  • Show Jumping: An interactive jumping competition in which you must guide your horse through the show jumping course. There are two types: Regional and Local (Horses with Show Jumping TPs do best here).
  • Cross Country An interactive jumping competition over an open course in which you must follow the "blue ball" that shows you where to jump. The competition is similar to that of a championship in that there are rounds in which you must be in the top ten to qualify.
  • Barrel Racing: This is a competition in which you must follow the arrows in the ring to navigate your horse around barrels. It is currently still in testing.
  • Private Races: You can challenge a user in chat to a private race of your choosing. Your horse and the other player’s horse can be any level.
  • Tip: When racing in ALL race types except for Championships, there is a "switch jockey" button in the middle of the "Leave Event" / "Begin" buttons after the confirmation window. You can click on your current jockey and switch to a new one without having to leave the race. At the end of the race, you can select the "race again" button to take you back to the "select a competition" page, or the "Continue" button to take you back to your Ranch home screen.

Championships:

Championships are a special set of 4 races that you can enter.

  • In the championship series, you need to place in the top 4 of the First, Second, and Semi Final Round to advance to the Final. If you win the Final Round, you receive a random prize (1-3 AD or a breeding vitamin).
  • There is a new championship every half hour that start 5 minutes after the registration period. For example:
⤷1:00 PM: Championship open to registration until 1:05 PM (sometimes you will not get into the championship if you wait until 1:04)
⤷1:05 PM- First round of championship
⤷1:20 PM- Final round of championship
  • In total, up to 64 players can enter a championship. When not enough players have entered a championship, the other entries will be AI horses (non-player controlled) whose stats and levels fall within the range of the championship requirements.
  • Racing Championships have 3 different leagues.
⤷League 3 is the ‘Beginners Division’.
⤷League 2 is ‘intermediate Division’.
⤷ League 1 is the ‘Advanced Division’.

Points: You begin your Championship races in League 3. If you earn enough points to be in the Top Ten for the racing season (see Racing Season below) you will advance to the next division. If you are not in the Top Ten, you will remain in your current league. A point is awarded for each round you successfully complete (1st-4th place). In finals, points are awarded for the 1st-3rd place winners (10, 3 and 1 point respectively).

Racing Season

Each ‘racing season’ lasts a week, restarting on Tuesday at 12am GMT. At the end of the racing ‘season’, each League Top Ten will be awarded ADs for their position and will be promoted to the next division (if not already in League 1).

★ Tip: If you live in a different country, compare your Timezone with Global GMT to determine the time of the reset for your location.

Show Jumping(Championship Event/Local Event:

Unlock Show Jumping (SJ) by completing the Ranch Goal: “Advance to Second Round of Champs.” There are two different types of SJ that you can enter: SJ Championships (Regionals) and Local SJ Events.

When entering a Show Jumping race (Regional or Championships), you must guide your horse through a jumps course using the following controls:
Speed Bar: The speed bar is the slider that has a lightning bolt. Slide it to the right to increase or to the left to decrease your horse’s speed. If you are hitting jump rails, try reducing your speed
Jump!: Tap Jump! to make your horse jump. The Jumping ability of your horse depends on you and on the number of SJ Talent Points. Just like in real life, you have to make your horse jump at the right time, or they will knock a pole down for a +5 second penalty to your total course time. If your horse is knocking a rail from the jump with its front legs, that means you gave the Jump! Command too late. If your horse knocks a rail with its back legs, you gave the Jump! Command too early.

🠊 Note: Getting a clear round takes practice and patience!

SJ Championships(Regional):

This competition is open to all horses (L1-L100) but you must pay an entry fee ($1,000 gold coins per horse level).

  • A new round starts every 30 minutes. (Entries close 2 minutes before that Round ends for tabulation. You can enter as many times as you like during each Round.) If you get the fastest time, the prize is 1AD. The venue usually changes each time, and you have a different course to attempt.
  • The SJ race season & leagues (see Racing Season above) work just like Racing Championships, with the weekly Top Ten being awarded ADs and advancing to the next league.
  • Points: Points are awarded to the 1st-10th place finishers at the end of each Championship Round.

Local Events:

There is no entry fee. Beat the average time for this Time Trial show jumping course to earn a greater amount of XP!

Earn 50% XP bonus if you beat the average time.

Earn 200% XP bonus if you beat the fastest time!

Tip: This is a very fast way to level up your horse! {Especially when this first resets... Because you can keep reentering…. And beating your own time, little by little…}

Challenging in Chat:

Private races allow players to race with certain users, and for these races, you can select any horse regardless of level or age. There are no restrictions for what horses can be used. With these races, you can choose:

  1. Race duration
  2. Jumps/no jumps
  3. Type of terrain

In order to start a private race: In Chat-> Select Player Name -> Challenge.

Note: Always ask before sending a challenge request. It can disrupt a race if you send one without asking(due to the notification window) and someone may not want to do a private race.
Tip: Challenge races are a fun way to race horses and to compete against your friends but they do not give as much XP as normal races/SJ.

Training Buildings/Training Facility:

Training Buildings and the Training Facility are important for horse racing on Horse Academy. They are used to increase your horse’s attributes which will directly improve your horse's ability in racing.

Why do I need these? Your horse needs the training to match its attributes to its Level. For example: if your horse is Level 10, but your horse's attributes are level 4, it will run as slowly as a Level 4. These can be found under Buildings (Store -> Buildings) and tap the Filter Category, so you see only Training buildings (currently 7, which fit on the first page) Each building trains specific attributes, except the Swimming Pool, which trains all attributes.

  • Hint: To check your horse’s current level for each Attribute: Quick View: Horses -> Your Horse -> Select horse -> Attributes & Training (5th option)
  • While Visiting in stable: Attributes (top right)

The training buildings cost Gold Coins. The exceptions are the Swimming Pool and the Training Facility. The Swimming Pool only costs 30AD. However, since the Training Facility automatically trains all of your horse’s Attributes to match the level of the horse, it costs 350AD.

-> Note: Putting a horse in a regular training building (not the training facility) once does not mean that all attributes will be trained. See below for training building names and stats.

  • The Hot Walker trains Stamina and Determination. It takes 4 minutes to train a horse.
  • The Water Treadmill trains Speed, Acceleration and Cadence. It takes 4 minutes to train a horse.
  • The Swimming Pool trains all attributes, making it very useful. It takes 4 minutes to train a horse.
  • The Circle Paddock trains Recovery and Stamina. It takes 4 minutes to train a horse.
  • The Empty Paddock trains Recovery. It takes 2 minutes to train a horse.
  • The Paddock with Jumps trains Stride Length and Jumping. It takes 2 minutes to train a horse.
  • The Practice Track trains Speed, Acceleration, Jumping and Cadence. It takes 4 minutes to train a horse.
  • To use the training building, visit the horse and click on the "attributes" tab. Then select "Auto Train". The horse's stats will be instantly equal to the horse's level. There are no other added benefits to using this button.

Jockeys

You can see Your Jockey’s and the Jockey Market in the “Jockey” tab. Every player is given one random jockey to start. You can only have a maximum of 3 jockeys at one time. However, some good Jockeys prefer that you only have 2 jockeys employed at a time.

Your Jockeys: You can set/change your default jockey in between races. On the view contract page, you can offer a new contract (If you have a good jockey that you would like to keep, {they will probably ask for more money}) or Fire them (you will have to pay compensation for the time left on the contract).

Jockey Market: If you wish to hire another jockey, select Jockey Market.

Tip: The worst skilled jockeys tend to be at the top of the page while better ones are near the bottom, and special abilities are randomly distributed. After finding a Jockey you want to hire, you must offer them a contract by: Click on Jockey -> Offer Contract. When you sign a contract for a Jockey, they become your jockey for the agreed number of days (min 14d - max 60d). Other Jockeys may require that you have more decorations on your ranch or more houses available. If you do not meet their requirements, they will ask for more money in their contract.

Jockey’s have 5 Skill levels- Awful, Poor, Average, Good, Excellent. At the moment, you can not improve a jockey, you have to find a new one with better abilities. Unhired Jockeys are retired, and new ones are created every 60 seconds. Every jockey has randomized different ability levels.

Each Jockey’s stats will include the following:

🛈Name: Name of your jockey (Info, no effect)
🛈Age: Jockey age (Info, Jockeys try to retire around age 40)
🛈Height: Jockey height (Info, no effect)
🛈Intelligence: influences how much feedback the Jockey can give on your horse at the beginning of the race.
🛈Bravery: affects the size of the gap the Jockey is willing to ride your horse through in order to get in front of other horses.
🛈Speed: Affects the overall speed of your horse and how quickly your horse reaches it’s top speed.
🛈Jumping Ability: Affects a horse’s performance in jump races
🛈Special Ability: See below. Some jockeys (your starter jockey will not have an ability), will have a special ability that is listed below their attributes under “special ability”.

Jockey Special Abilities

Special abilities are assigned at random and it is possible that a Jockey with an “Awful” skill set has a great special ability. Currently, there are seven different ability types, and they are all extremely useful in different ways! When a jockey is created, there is about a 40% chance that it will have one of the special abilities. Each jockey may have only one special ability.

Special Ability List:
XP Boost: Boosts the XP amount awarded at the end of events (Used to be 10%-29%, new jockeys on market now give a max of 14% boost)
Show Jumper: Boosts horse’s jump height in Show Jumping events. (You can find bonuses of 3%, 6% or 9%.)
Trainer: Instantly max's all attributes for horses when ran up to (anywhere from Level 10 to Level 92)
Speed: Gives your horse’s speed a boost at a particular point in the race. Three different types can be found:
  1. Fast Starter:(1-4% boost at race starts).
  2. Mid Racer (1-4% boost in the middle of races).
  3. Finisher (1-4% boost at the end of races).
Charisma: Brings extra sponsorship to your ranch and increases your earnings (3%-195%) per event.

Special Note for Returning Players: Jockeys used to be purchased for AD. Players who purchased Jockeys on HA2D are given an automatic AD refund the first time they log on to HA3D.

Jockey Scout

You can hire a Jockey Scout by going to the Jockeys tab -> Jockey Market-> Jockey Scout The Jockey scout will find you a jockey that matches your ability requirements. If no such jockey exists, it will find you a jockey with the closest matching abilities. The AD cost is shown at the bottom of the Jockey Scout Options page. The cost of using the Jockey Scout will change depending on the parameters you set.

Jockey Scout Search Options (parameters):
  1. Minimum Intelligence Will only show a jockey that has at least what you have selected. Options include "any", poor, average, good, and excellent.
  2. Minimum Bravery Will only show a jockey that has at least what you have selected. Options include "any", poor, average, good, and excellent.
  3. Minimum Speed Will only show a jockey that has at least what you have selected. Options include "any", poor, average, good, and excellent.
  4. Minimum Jumping Ability Will only show a jockey that has at least what you have selected. Options include "any", poor, average, good, and excellent.
  5. Required Special Ability Will only show a jockey that has the ability you have selected. Options include: Show Jumper, XP Booster, Training Jockey, Charisma, Speed Booster, and None.
  6. Bonus Ability parameter depending on Special ability Selected Will pick a jockey that has at least the percent or amount of special ability you have selected.

Special Note when using the Jockey Scout: The Jockey Scout can only find a jockey that "could" show up on the jockey market. Which means the limits still apply: up to 14% bonus exp, up to 4% speed boost, and so on.

Tip: The better the jockey you ask the Scout to find, the higher the cost will be and the longer it may take. Jockey Scouts charge AD. To save AD, only set requirements for the abilities that you need. You will still have to pay cash to hire the jockey that the Jockey Scout finds. Once you hire the jockey, you can rehire that same jockey for cash, until it ages out.
